The route start in the Cubillas' reservoir:
It is located between Sierra Elvira, Sierra de Colomera and Sierra Arana.
Too, It stand out the Sierra Nevada's view.
The Embalse del Cubillas was built in a shallow balley.
It is 230 metres long and It is 800 metres width.
In this dam, you can do windsurf, nautic ski......

Then, the rut arrived to the Chaparral:
It is a village that belongs to Albolote. The name of church is San Isidro Labrador. This village was created between 1956 and 1964. Their popular festival are 15 of may. Its patron saint is San Isidro Labrador.


Later, you go to Caparacena:
This village belongs to Atarfe. Caparacena has a church called Encarnación. Pinos Puente and Parque del Cubillas are near this village.
It was independent until 1972 when It joined with Atarfe.
The typical food is mediterranean diet:
The traditional Mediterranean diet consists of large quantities of fresh fruits and vegetables, olive oil, fish, bread, ... and of course water, lots of water. All this combined with frequent physical activity reduces the risk of heart disease, some types of cancer, diabetes and a traditional food from Granada.

Finally we visit Colomera and their monuments. 

COLOMERA


Colomera is a town in the province of Granada, located in the north of the city, which belongs to the region of the Eastern Montes. Its name comes from "Columbaira", and means "land of pigeons"; however, the Moors liked to call it "Granada la Chica" and made it one of the seven fortresses to defend the Kingdom of Granada.

Colomera is a town inhabited by people who is, fundamentally, is dedicated to the farming of the olive tree.


ENCARNACION'S CHURCH
It was built in the 16th century on a mosque and it was declared a historical-artistic monument in 1980. It combines Gothic, Renaissance and Mudejar elements and consists of three naves with nine altars and a beautiful coffered ceiling, decorated with lace of Mozarabic pine cones and Plateresque paintings.
There are some elements of great value inside, such as its baptismal font or a painting of the Virgin of Bethlehem attributed to the Granadian artist Alonso Cano.


THE HERMITAGE OF THE CALVARY


The hermitage of the Calvary was built in 1626, residing in her the pattern of Colomera, Christ of the True Cross. Celebrations are celebrated in mid-September, i his honour.






THE CASTLE

The castle of Colomera is an Arabic fortress placed on a rocky promontory that dominates the locality, next to the church of the Encarnación. In the highest part of the hill part of its old walls and towers can be seen, as well as two cisterns which provided water to the garrison. 
It is in ruins right now.


ROMAN BRIDGE 

It is a bridge built by the Romans on the Colomera river. It is construction made of stone consisting of a single half-point arch. It is in a very good condition.
On its left, there is the old oil mill of Las Niñas, while on its right hand there is a road that ascends to the Roman cemetery.


THE COLOMERA'S RESERVOIR

The Colomera's reservoir is located on the Colomera and Juntas rivers, about four kilometers from the town of Colomera, in the province of Granada. In the marsh you can see large barbs and tents. In the surroundings of the reservoir you can practice many sports and leisure activities. Bathing and fishing are allowed, as well as sailing and canoeing.


GASTRONOMY

In Colomera pig products are produced, such as sausages and slaughter. Among the homemade plate are the choto al ajillo, meat in sauce, grenadine soup, picadillo soup, patatas a lo pobre, migas, roast and fry of rabbit with tomatoes and peppers, as well as lamb roasts and stews. The candy store is headed by muffins, donuts and biscuits. In addition, the municipality forms part of the production area of extra virgin olive oil.


FESTIVAL

The patronales are celebrated from 14 of September in honour of the Holy Christ of the True Cross. It is also a feast day the departure of the brotherhood of the Virgen de la Cabeza towards Andujar and in August takes place a Cultural Week in honour of the Virgin with the participation of the numerous emigrants who return to spend their vacations in the village.
